Principal, Francis L. Cardozo Education Campus
Arthur Mola is a passionate educator and leader with over two decades of experience in fostering academic excellence and cultural pride. With a Master’s degree in Education focused on Social Studies, Bilingual Education, and ESL, Mr. Mola’s commitment to education is deeply rooted in his upbringing as a child of Cuban immigrants in the Bronx, New York. His multicultural background inspires his mission to prepare students as global citizens by celebrating their heritage through literacy, language, and the arts.
Mr. Mola began his career 24 years ago as a social studies teacher in Oakland, California. Nine years ago, he joined the DCPS community as principal of Bancroft Elementary, a Dual Language immersion school. Under his leadership, Bancroft transformed from a focus turnaround school to a 5-Star school, achieving high attendance rates and earning the 2016 Standing Ovation for Excellence in Academic Leadership and the 2018 School of the Year for Spanish instruction. In 2020, he received the Rubenstein Award for Excellence in Leadership.
Now in his fourth year as principal at the historic Francis L. Cardozo Education Campus, Mr. Mola is guiding the school into a new era as an XQ Redesign School. Cardozo’s innovative curriculum empowers students with entrepreneurship and business ownership skills, reviving the legacy of D.C.’s first All-Black Business School. Under Mr. Mola’s leadership, Cardozo students will graduate as business owners, prepared to build economic futures that uplift their families and communities.
